Gregor Sailer
Photographer Gregor Sailer explores the structural transformation of landscapes and the complex political, military, and economic dimensions of architecture. His work takes him to remote, inhospitable regions, Potemkin villages, and sites accessible only to a select few. Sailer’s photographs are devoid of people, and the buildings depicted often appear almost sculptural. Whether driven by climate change, political conflict, or an intensified demand for security, his images reveal the forces that give rise to such places.
The catalogue was produced for the photographer’s first major retrospective at KUNST HAUS WIEN in Austria.
